Senior Electro Optical Lab Engineer

NVIDIA’s Electro-Optics Group is looking for an experienced Lab Engineer to take full ownership of our high-speed electro-optical lab in Yokneam. This is a hands-on, on-site role focused on enabling advanced electro-optical development and characterization activities while maintaining a highly functional, safe, and well-organized lab environment.

The role combines technical lab ownership with operational responsibility, including equipment handling, calibration, inventory control, logistics, purchasing, vendor coordination, and day-to-day maintenance of the lab infrastructure. The ideal candidate is practical, organized, technically strong, and comfortable working closely with engineers in a fast-paced development environment.

What you'll be doing:

  • Take full ownership of the high-speed electro-optical lab, including daily operation, organization, and readiness of the lab environment

  • Build, maintain, and support hands-on electro-optical setups for development, bring-up, and characterization activities, including equipment calibration, preventive maintenance, repairs, and service activities

  • Work with electro-optical test equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, network analyzers, BERTs, AWGs, power meters, tunable lasers, and related instrumentation

  • Manage lab inventory, including equipment, consumables, cables, adapters, optical components, and spare parts

  • Lead logistics activities related to the lab, including equipment receiving, shipping, internal transfers, storage, and tracking

  • Handle purchasing workflows for lab equipment and components, and serve as a point of contact with vendors and suppliers

  • Help ensure the lab operates safely, efficiently, and in alignment with internal processes and quality expectations

What we need to see:

  • 5+ years of experience as a lab manager or in a similar lab ownership role

  • Electronic Practical Engineer diploma

  • Hands-on experience with electro-optical setups

  • Experience working with lab logistics, inventory management, vendor coordination, technical equipment handling, including calibration and maintenance processes

  • Fluent English, with strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong sense of ownership, responsibility, and attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple operational and technical tasks in parallel

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with engineers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • Experience supporting high-speed optical communication or silicon photonics lab activities

  • Background in electro-optics, electrical engineering, physics, or a related technical field (Academic degree - advantage)

  • Familiarity with optical components, fiber handling, RF test equipment, and precision lab hardware

  • Experience establishing or scaling lab processes, inventory systems, or equipment tracking methods

  • Practical troubleshooting skills across optical, electrical, and mechanical lab systems
