Associate Product Manager: Krylon Retail

The Krylon Associate Product Manager will support the Krylon Retail business through new product development, portfolio management, customer and competitive analysis, and commercialization activities. Working closely with cross-functional partners across Sales, Marketing, R&D, Supply Chain, Finance, Procurement, and Manufacturing, this role helps drive innovation initiatives, bring new products to market, identify growth opportunities, and execute strategies that strengthen brand performance and deliver business results.

Position is not remote/hybrid and will report to Cleveland Global HQ.

Product Lifecycle Management

  • Improve Brand/Product awareness to Sales and Marketing
  • Research and determine End User needs for assigned product lines
  • Develop and implement New Product Development of assigned product lines
  • New product commercialization through established Stage Gate process
  • Lead projects directing Technical, Global Supply Chain, Marketing and Sales
  • Product expense cost reduction
  • Analyze and lead SKU Rationalization of assigned products
  • Manage life cycle of assigned products and develop plans to minimize obsolescence
  • Develop short-term and long-term strategic planning
  • Coordinate efforts with production planning forecasting efforts
  • Execute plans and projects on-time and on-budget
  • Analyze competitors’ products and new products/developments with category
  • Engage and execute necessary brand activations as directed, including working with Brand Team to assist in Website development, review and provide input on product brochures, sell sheets and in-store POP updates.

 

Financial Accountability

  • Prepare financial budgets for assigned products through costing analysis with the Finance leads
  • Monitor costs associated with Product/Brand
  • Help prepare demand forecasts, monitor customer/retailer P.O.S data and monitor changes in product costs, product mix, and recommend subsequent/needed adjustments in pricing with Channel Marketing
  • Deliver product sales and profit within Product categories managed

 

Communication & Training

  • Lead the development and communicate training on all product lines and new products
  • Assist in Product Line Reviews with Customer Marketing  
  • Assist Customer Marketing to develop New Product launch packages
  • Assist development of sales tools including training manuals, catalogs, price lists and brochures 

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 4+ years of prior experience in Marketing, Sales, Channel Management, Business and/or Product Development
  • Business experience with progressively more responsibility and a track record of results
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Experience delivering presentations in a large setting
  • Experience in leading projects through project management tools
  • Operates under moderate supervision
  • Solid understanding of the General Marketing Mix, including Product, Place, Pricing, Promotion and Placement
  • Strong business acumen, strategic thinking and analytical skills.
  • Proven record of success working in a fast-paced environment 

 

Preferred: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing or related field
  • Experience marketing consumer goods that are sold through Home Centers or Mass Market retailers
  • Experience in the Coatings industry
  • Experience in a Consumer Products industry  
  • Experience in working directly with end-users to uncover customer needs
  • Knowledge of paint/coatings
  • Experience managing budgets, budgeting process and working with budgeting systems like Coupa
  • Past Product Management experience
