About This Role
Axsome Therapeutics is seeking an Associate Director, Commercial Creative to lead the development and execution of a broad range of digital and print resources that support brand objectives and field effectiveness. In efforts to expand in-house creative capability, the Associate Director, Commercial Creative will help shape new ways of working, strengthen internal creative processes, and expand the organization’s ability to deliver high-value content with greater speed, consistency, and strategic alignment.
This role requires a strong creative doer who can produce high-quality work across channels while also bringing the strategic perspective needed to translate brand priorities into impactful, compliant, and scalable creative solutions. This position reports to the Associate Vice President, Commercial and Digital Excellence.
This role is based at Axsome’s HQ in New York City with an on-site requirement of at least three days per week. We are unable to consider candidates who are looking for fully remote roles.
Job Responsibilities and Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Serve as a hands-on creative leader, developing high-quality, on-brand content across email, digital, social, web, print, video, and field channels.
- Translate brand strategy, business priorities, and customer needs into compelling, compliant, and field-ready creative assets.
- Own end-to-end content development as an individual contributor, from concept through final delivery, ensuring speed, quality, and consistency.
- Partner cross-functionally with marketing, sales, training, market access, and other stakeholders to identify needs, shape creative approaches, and deliver solutions that advance brand goals.
- Bring strategic input to brand planning and content prioritization by recommending creative approaches, channel strategies, and opportunities to increase impact.
- Help build and scale the in-house creative capability by improving workflows, establishing efficient processes, and reducing reliance on external partners.
- Continuously strengthen creative output through feedback, performance insights, and evolving best practices in commercial and omnichannel content development.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- 7+ years of experience in commercial creative, brand support, and digital content development, ideally in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, or another regulated industry.
- Proven ability to partner with brand and commercial teams to turn business priorities into creative solutions that advance strategic goals.
- Ability to work on site Monday, Tuesday & Thursday. We are unable to consider candidates who are looking for fully remote roles
Experience, Knowledge and Skills
- Strong experience supporting omnichannel marketing, including developing, adapting, and scaling content across email, digital, social, web, and print.
- Experience with design-first web platforms (e.g., Webflow) that support rapid content creation, updates, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Familiarity with AI-enabled creative tools and emerging technologies that improve productivity, speed execution, and support scalable in-house content development.
- Demonstrated success building and improving creative workflows, intake processes, and operating models that increase speed, quality, and consistency.
- Excellent project management, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across functions and present recommendations clearly to senior leadership.
Salary and Benefits:
The anticipated salary range for this role is $150,000 - $180,000. The salary offer will be based on a variety of factors, including experience, qualifications, internal equity and location.
