## About this role
We are seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to ensure the availability, reliability, and scalability of platforms and applications by combining software engineering with operational excellence. This role focuses on monitoring, automation, and proactive reliability engineering while working closely with development teams to design resilient systems and reduce manual operational effort.
## What you’ll do
Monitor application and platform availability and reliability, ensuring agreed service levels are met.
Use software engineering practices to automate operational tasks and achieve low‑touch or zero‑touch operations.
Design and enhance system and software architectures to improve scalability, capacity, performance, and reliability.
Define, implement, promote, and monitor service level objectives (SLOs) and service level indicators (SLIs) in collaboration with product owners and development teams.
Write automation code for provisioning and operating infrastructure at scale.
Partner with development teams to ensure reliability and scalability are built into applications from the design stage.
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automation for deploying applications into production environments.
Participate in an on‑call rotation to support applications and infrastructure.
Investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis, and document post‑incident reviews with remediation recommendations.
Document, share, and actively promote knowledge across teams and stakeholders.
Engage with internal and external stakeholders to communicate complex technical topics and support the adoption of improved technology solutions.
## Who you are
Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
Have a minimum of 3 years’ professional experience in software engineering and/or IT support roles.
Demonstrate strong analytical thinking and structured problem‑solving skills.
Are adaptable, open‑minded, and comfortable working in environments with rapidly evolving technologies.
Have experience working within multicultural and geographically distributed teams.
Are able to navigate complex organisational environments and translate complexity into practical, simple solutions.
Bring hands‑on experience with Google Cloud Platform and its managed services.
Have coding experience using languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, or Scala.
Possess strong Linux and system administration skills.
Show solid understanding of networks, databases, DNS, proxies, security, and web application architectures.
Are familiar with SQL, relational databases, and NoSQL technologies such as MongoDB.
Have experience with containerisation and orchestration tools including Docker and Kubernetes.
Are comfortable working with infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring tools, and version control systems.
