Eaton’s IS AER FMC division is currently seeking a Hone and Lap Machinist A - 2nd Shift. The core hours are 1:45pm to 10:15pm. The hourly rate for this position is $37.26 per hour.

## What you’ll do:
Primary Function:
Eaton Aerospace Group located in Los Angeles, CA (near Glendale metro) has an opening for a Machinist A. The LA facility has approximately 300 employees and is a leader in the design, development, manufacture and delivery of Aerospace hydraulic components, systems and services to the global aftermarket and OEM markets.
In this function you will:
* Set up complex parts and operate manual and CNC machines without supervision.
* Honing, lapping, and grinding parts
* Interpret plans, work order, blueprints or drawings to determine the necessary work required, full understanding of GD&T.
* Inspect parts for quality and appropriate tolerance using the appropriate measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, air gages and comparators.
* Finish all parts with different materials to close tolerance without supervision.
* Examine surface of work piece for defects before starting work.
* Meet production and quality requirements at all times, always keep work area clean.
* Modify machining feed and speeds on multiple material types and select tooling, gauges as/if required.
* Use measuring tools, air gauges, micrometers and other inspection tools to verify part quality.
* Replace worn tools, inspect parts and adjust tool offsets as needed.
* Be a team player and follow all safety rules and regulations.
* Drive for continuous process improvements
## Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
• High School Diploma required from an accredited institution
• Minimum 7 years experience in machining, honing, or lapping parts in a manufacturing environment.
• This position requires access to export-controlled information. To conform to U.S. Government export regulations applicable to that information, applicant must be a U.S. person, defined as a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (green card holder), (iii) refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157, or (iv) asylee under 8 U.S.C. 1158.
• No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within 50 miles of Los Angeles (Zip code 90039) will be considered for this position.
Preferred:
• Aerospace experience preferred.
• 8 plus years experience in machining, honing or lapping parts in a manufacturing environment.
• Involvement in successful process definition and re-engineering.
• Experience in employee involvement in multi-discipline teaming.
• Proficiency with computer based methods and tools.
• Familiarity /experience with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen events, and continuous improvement and Six Sigma methodology.
## Position Criteria:
• Experienced with multiple machine tools, production methods and shop practices preferred.
• Ability to learn equipment and processes for fabrication of aerospace parts, produce parts in accordance with the production plans, sketches and/or verbal instructions.
• Ability to maintain close tolerance dimensions on critical parts.
• Knowledge of dimensional measuring instrumentations and use of such tools to verify actual measurements of machined diameters, dimensions and features.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, sketches, manufacturing routings, procedures, and routers.
• Good verbal and written communication skills a must.
• Familiarity with SPC principles and methods.
• Ability to produce and inspect critical parts with tight tolerances and finishes, with minimal supervision.
• Ability to logically solve problems and to keep assignments and projects moving in an orderly and structured fashion.
