Guided by its Everyone Forever approach and Destination 2030 Strategy, Water For People works to ensure that every person has reliable and lasting access to safe water and sanitation services while strengthening the systems that sustain those services over time.  The Water Resources Management, Climate and Carbon Specialist provides strategic and technical leadership for Water For People Tanzania's water resources management, climate resilience, ecosystem restoration, and carbon finance portfolio. The position is responsible for integrating climate adaptation, nature-based solutions, and water resources management into all phases of program planning and implementation to improve the long-term sustainability of WASH services. The Specialist will ensure that climate risks, water security, and environmental sustainability are systematically incorporated into district planning, infrastructure development, and service delivery systems.  The role will work closely with the National Carbon Monitoring Centre (NCMC), Ministry of Water, Vice President's Office (Environment), Basin Water Boards, RUWASA, district local government authorities, research institutions, private sector partners, and international technical partners to mobilize climate finance and establish innovative financing mechanisms that strengthen sustainable WASH services. This responsibility includes leading the development and implementation of Water For People's carbon credit program in Tanzania, including identification of carbon opportunities, project design, partnership development, Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) systems, carbon certification processes, and compliance with national and international carbon standards. Responsibilities also include providing technical assistance secure of corporate water stewardship investments by quantifying Water For People impacts in terms of volumetric benefits.   Working closely with the Program Manager and Country Leadership Team, the Specialist will provide technical leadership in integrated water resources management (IWRM), climate vulnerability assessment, watershed management, groundwater protection, climate-resilient infrastructure planning, ecosystem restoration, and environmental governance. The position will contribute to organizational learning, policy influence, proposal development, and strategic partnerships while positioning Water For People Tanzania as a national leader in climate-resilient WASH systems and innovative environmental financing.  The position will be based in Dodoma, Tanzania, with regular travel to program areas across the country and occasional international travel as required.  Please see full job description.
