About this Role
NorthStar Energy Solutions, a Quanta Services Company, is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the successful execution of electric utility construction projects. In this role, you will provide strategic leadership for project teams, subcontractors, and client relationships while overseeing all phases of the project lifecycle.
The ideal candidate has a proven track record of managing complex electric utility construction projects and excels at leading teams, building strong client relationships, and delivering projects safely, on time, and within budget. You will play a key role in driving operational excellence, financial performance, and customer satisfaction across multiple projects.
What You'll Do
Project Leadership & Execution
- Lead all phases of the project lifecycle, from project kickoff through commissioning and closeout.
- Manage project handoffs from the estimating team and establish baseline project schedules.
- Identify schedule constraints, assign responsible parties, and maintain accurate project schedules through weekly updates.
- Proactively manage schedule changes and unplanned project events to minimize impacts on project delivery.
Planning & Coordination
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
- Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, vendors, and clients to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project requirements.
- Monitor project progress and proactively address issues that could impact schedule, cost, or quality.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Lead weekly project meetings with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for project communications, providing regular updates, resolving issues, and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Foster collaboration among project teams to ensure successful project execution.
Financial & Risk Management
- Manage project budgets, cost tracking, change orders, and risk mitigation activities.
- Prepare and report project financial metrics, including Percent Complete, Cost-to-Complete, and Work-in-Progress (WIP).
- Review and approve Accounts Payable (AP) invoices and prepare Accounts Receivable (AR) invoices for client billing.
- Maintain and coordinate change order logs with operations to support formal client requests and contract modifications.
What You'll Bring
- 10+ years of experience managing electric utility construction projects
- Strong understanding of construction jobsite operations, processes, and safety procedures.
- PMP®, CMRP®, or equivalent professional certification is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects while balancing competing priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with clients, management, subcontractors, customers, and permitting agencies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Strong computer aptitude with the ability to quickly learn new software systems and project management tools.
- Effective planning, scheduling, and delegation skills.
- Working knowledge of project billing processes, including Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
