Required Skills & Experience- Mature, hands-on programming skills in JavaScript (Node.js) and TypeScript- Strong grasp of software design patterns, distributed systems, and microservices architecture- Proven experience architecting scalable, resilient, high-performance systems- Deep understanding of secure programming practices and common vulnerability classes- Experience with data-intensive systems: databases (SQL/NoSQL), caching, message queues, streaming (Kafka, etc.)- Strong code review skills with a track record of mentoring engineering teams- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)- Solid understanding of API design (REST/GraphQL), event-driven architecture, and integration patternsKey ResponsibilitiesSolution Architecture & Design- Design scalable, resilient, and high-performing architectures for complex, data-intensive systems- Define architectural patterns, standards, and best practices across the technology stack- Evaluate trade-offs between performance, scalability, cost, and maintainability- Produce architecture diagrams, technical design documents, and decision recordsHands-On Engineering- Write production-quality code (primarily JavaScript/TypeScript) to prototype, validate, and guide implementation- Contribute to critical or complex modules alongside development teams- Stay current with modern programming paradigms, frameworks, and toolingCode Quality & Review- Lead and participate in code reviews, ensuring adherence to design principles, performance standards, and maintainability- Establish coding standards, style guides, and review checklists- Mentor engineers on clean code, design patterns, and architectural thinkingSecure Programming Practices- Embed secure coding practices (OWASP Top 10, input validation, authentication/authorization, encryption) into the SDLC- Conduct or coordinate security reviews, threat modeling, and vulnerability assessments- Ensure compliance with relevant security and data protection standardsPerformance & Scalability- Architect solutions for high-throughput, low-latency, data-intensive workloads- Design for horizontal scalability, fault tolerance, and resilience (caching, queuing, sharding, load balancing)- Conduct performance testing, profiling, and capacity planningData-Intensive Systems- Design data pipelines, storage strategies, and processing architectures (batch and real-time)- Work with SQL/NoSQL databases, streaming platforms, and distributed data systems- Ensure data consistency, integrity, and availability at scaleCollaboration & Leadership- Partner with product managers, engineering leads, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions- Guide multiple engineering teams on architectural alignment- Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend adoption where relevant
