GENERAL SUMMARY:
As a leading technology innovator, Qualcomm pushes the boundaries of what's possible to enable next-generation experiences and drives digital transformation to help create a smarter, connected future for all.
As a Qualcomm SoC Platform Software Engineer, you will design and develop SoC Platform software solutions for Qualcomm IE-IOT SoC platforms, spanning Linux and RTOS environments, enabling high-performance, low-power, and real-time SoC Platform experiences in heterogeneous edge computing environments. Your work will support a broad range of applications, including surveillance, smart devices, retail systems, robotics, and edge AI in physical world systems, bridging deep technical knowledge with hands-on engineering execution to deliver robust, market-ready products.
Qualcomm SoC Platform Software Engineers collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess and advance the application of company products that meet and exceed customer needs.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Design, develop, and evaluate SoC Platform software solutions for Qualcomm IE-IOT SoC platforms, targeting Linux and RTOS environments for IoT, industrial, and edge computing applications.
* Implement and optimize SoC Platform software components including drivers, middleware, and application-layer modules to meet performance, power, and real-time requirements.
* Collaborate with internal or third-party partners to integrate, bring up, and validate SoC Platform software on Qualcomm IE-IOT SoC-based systems.
* Conduct detailed design and code reviews to ensure implementation meets performance, power efficiency, reliability, compliance, and cost requirements.
* Coordinate and perform specialized analyses (e.g., feasibility studies, performance profiling, memory footprint analysis) to verify software behavior across target platforms.
* Test and validate SoC Platform software on development systems to ensure functional correctness and compliance, and support issues triage and root cause analysis.
* Prepare and present technical documentation, design reviews, and execution status updates to stakeholders.
* Resolve architecture and design issues at the software and system level, and contribute to the bring-up and debug of SoC Platform software on new platforms.
* Participate in determining objectives of assignments and plan, schedule, and arrange own activities in accomplishing those objectives.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
(All competencies are required upon entry)
System Integration Platform
* Integrate Linux BSP, RTOS firmware, and hardware components on ARM-based SoCs.
* Enable end-to-end system bring-up from bootloader to application layer.
* Coordinate initialization sequences across bootloader, Linux kernel, RTOS, and firmware.
* Support secure boot flows, including verified boot and chain-of-trust bring-up.
System-Level Debugging
* Debug issues across HW/FW/OS boundaries including boot failures, crashes, hangs, and performance issues.
* Analyze system logs, crash dumps, and runtime traces to identify root causes.
* Use and enhance debugging, logging, and diagnostic frameworks.
* Support system profiling and performance analysis.
Bring-up & Validation
* Support board bring-up, feature enablement, and system validation.
* Work with hardware and firmware teams to investigate silicon or integration-related issues.
