About the Role
The BI Developer II is an experienced BI professional responsible for independently designing, developing, and optimizing Microsoft Fabric-Power BI solutions that support enterprise-wide reporting needs. This role is instrumental in building reusable semantic models integrated with large enterprise data platforms, implementing complex DAX calculations, and ensuring adherence to governance and performance standards. The BI Developer II operates within a modern development environment, leveraging CI/CD pipelines, Azure DevOps, and GitHub for version-controlled, production-grade report deployment, and applies AI-assisted tools including AI to accelerate delivery and drive continuous improvement. Working closely with the BI Manager, Sr BI Dev Manager, data engineers, product managers, and stakeholders, this role translates complex requirements into scalable, high-quality reporting solutions and mentors junior developers to elevate team capability.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Independently design, build, and maintain advanced Microsoft Fabric-Power BI dashboards, reports, and semantic models to meet enterprise reporting needs.
Translate complex business requirements into scalable, performant BI solutions that adhere to established governance, data modeling, and visual design standards.
Develop and maintain advanced DAX calculations, incorporating time intelligence, conditional logic, and security filters to meet nuanced analytical needs.
Optimize report and data model performance through indexing, query tuning, and best-practice modeling techniques.
Implement and manage Row-Level Security (RLS) and other governance features to ensure secure, role-based data access.
Collaborate with data engineers and governance teams to align BI assets with enterprise architecture, data quality standards, and compliance requirements.
Manage and maintain CI/CD pipeline workflows for Power BI report deployment, utilizing GitHub for version control within an Azure DevOps environment.
Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate report delivery, support schema analysis, and drive process improvements through intelligent automation and agentic workflows.
Mentor BI Developer I team members, providing technical guidance, code reviews, and skill development feedback.
Document data models, report specifications, and development standards to ensure reusability, maintainability, and team alignment.
