The Opportunity

This position is based in Bogotá, Colombia.

The Business Systems Specialist is responsible for the administration, maintenance, support, and continuous improvement of the Vaisala Environmental Monitoring System (EMS) used across Abbott manufacturing and laboratory environments worldwide.

This role serves as the primary point of contact for business users, ensuring reliable system operations, effective application support, user access management, incident resolution, and system configuration activities. The position partners closely with business stakeholders, site personnel, and IT teams to ensure compliance, system reliability, and effective utilization of the platform.

In addition to operational support, the Business Systems Specialist contributes to system enhancement and deployment initiatives, supporting configuration activities, user training, and process improvements while ensuring adherence to quality and regulatory requirements.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Ensure compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional policies, procedures, and quality standards.

  • Serve as the primary liaison between business users, site personnel, vendors, and IT teams for the Vaisala EMS platform.

  • Provide day-to-day application support, troubleshooting, and resolution of Level 2 incidents and service requests.

  • Manage user account provisioning, deprovisioning, and access controls in accordance with compliance requirements.

  • Support system administration activities, including configuration, dashboard management, and monitoring setup.

  • Perform routine system maintenance and health monitoring activities to ensure platform reliability and performance.

  • Troubleshoot and support device communications and connectivity issues related to environmental monitoring systems.

  • Partner with business stakeholders to identify process improvements and support operational excellence initiatives.

  • Gather business requirements and translate them into effective technology solutions.

  • Support system expansion, deployment, and enhancement projects across global Abbott sites.

  • Assist in validation, testing, and implementation activities for system updates and enhancements.

  • Develop and maintain system documentation, procedures, and support materials.

  • Deliver user training and support system adoption initiatives.

  • Contribute to demand management, strategic planning, and continuous improvement efforts.

  • Collaborate with global teams to ensure consistent system performance and best practices across sites.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Associate degree may be considered depending on experience).

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in IT systems support, business analysis, or related roles.

  • Experience working with business stakeholders and translating requirements into solutions.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Experience with systems support, ticket management, or application administration is preferred.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a team environment.

  • Proficiency in English.
