Mechanical Engineer- Gearbox (m/f/d)

SalzbergenFull-timePosted Jul 23, 2026

Job Description Summary

At GE Vernova, the work of proving what's next is never theoretical — it's a disciplined, hands-on pursuit of what engineering can achieve. As Mechanical Engineer- Gearbox, you will apply advanced analytical methods to validate the structural and dynamic behavior of complex mechanical systems, helping to determine whether a concept is not just promising, but real and buildable. Your work sits at the intersection of physics, materials science, and engineering methodology — and the conclusions you reach will shape decisions that matter.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform in-depth analysis of static (structural) and dynamic (rotor dynamics, vibrations) behavior of mechanical systems to validate engineering concepts and support design decisions
  • Apply scientific and engineering methodologies to demonstrate the performance and implementation potential of new concepts through test and analysis
  • Serve as a technical resource and quality reference within your discipline, contributing to best practice development and knowledge-sharing across the team
  • Use data analysis and multiple information sources to support sound engineering recommendations and resolve moderately complex technical problems
  • Contribute to strategy and policy development within your area of responsibility, ensuring commitments are met and standards are upheld
  • Lead small-to-mid-scale projects, communicate findings clearly to varied audiences, and build alignment across stakeholders

Qualifications

We are most interested in your total experience and professional achievements. A formal education and subsequent bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering, Engineering, Physics, or a related field is nice to have, but equivalent professional experience is equally valued.

Required:

  • Strong experience in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline, with particular depth in structural and dynamic analysis of mechanical systems
  • Strong working knowledge of rotor dynamics, vibrations, and mechanical system behavior
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve complex technical problems independently, drawing on both internal expertise and external sources
  • Experience contributing to or leading engineering projects, with the ability to document, plan, and execute work to completion

Preferred:

  • Experience contributing to strategy, policy, or best practice development within an engineering function
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical findings clearly and build consensus with colleagues at varying levels of expertise
  • Familiarity with competitive landscape and market-differentiating factors relevant to mechanical engineering applications
