As part of the MT Finance team, the Senior Director provides strategic financial leadership for existing services and new capabilities as they are developed and implemented within the MT service operating model. These include Enterprise Infrastructure & Platform covering all MT compute and telecom services, modernization programs, Universal Contact Center, and specified Business Unit allocation support. The work will include managing the MT Finance team responsible for managing base and project expense for the supported areas; establishing process optimization strategies; enabling automation; and supporting new Enterprise Finance strategy initiatives.
This leader must have a strong understanding of IT platforms, FinOps practices, modernization trends, and digital finance capabilities to deliver business-informed financial guidance and insights. The role is responsible for financial management, reporting, status updates, digital enablement, and analytics. In addition, the Senior Director partners with stakeholders across the organization to enhance and automate the consumption-based allocation framework. This leader will also help shape the next generation of MT Finance capabilities by advancing digital finance practices, including data-driven forecasting, automated reporting, self-service analytics, workflow optimization, and responsible use of AI-enabled tools to improve speed, accuracy, transparency, and business insight.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with various service area leaders to provide financial structure and maintain strong corporate governance in measuring the financial impact of each service area base budget and project portfolio
- Identify, measure and track the value of the initiatives delivered by supported service areas, which includes growth initiatives, spend savings efforts and the efficiencies we’re creating in our operating model changes
- Continue the development and lead an expansion of the MT consumption-based allocation service model from supporting metered cloud expenses to enable a process where any consumption-based platform can be integrated into monthly, on demand reporting to enable our business partners to understand and influence enterprise spend through increased visibility.
- Lead monthly forecast, annual budget and long-term planning process supported service areas
- Produce monthly financial reports and communicate to finance leadership & C-level executives the Base, Initiative, and value creation delivered from each supported area
- Develop ways to measure, analyze and communicate KPIs/metrics to senior leadership with clear and concise reporting
- Lead the financial modeling and assessment of the impact of government policy and industry changes on our business
- Conduct various ad hoc analyses and provide general financial/data support to help business partners solve problems and understand the financial implications
- Lead the advancement of digital finance capabilities across supported areas, including automated reporting, scalable data models, dashboarding, workflow simplification, and self-service analytics.
- Partner with Technology, Finance, Data, and business stakeholders to improve the quality, accessibility, governance, and usability of financial and operational data used in forecasting, planning, performance reporting, and decision support.
- Identify opportunities to apply AI, advanced analytics, and automation responsibly to reduce manual work, improve forecast accuracy, accelerate insight generation, and enhance financial controls.
- Translate complex technology cost drivers, consumption patterns, and operational metrics into integrated financial insights that support executive decision-making.
- Champion digital adoption across the MT Finance team by building capability, improving ways of working, and embedding modern tools into recurring FP&A processes.
- Manage team and provide mentorship, guidance and career development opportunities
Minimum Experience & Education
- Typically requires 13+ years of finance experience and 6+ years of diversified leadership, planning, communication, organization, and people motivation experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business; MBA preferred
- Strong understanding of IT platforms and business models including IT process knowledge and familiarity with industry trends around the shift from traditional infrastructure to consumption-based pricing and agentic architecture.
- Strong understanding of enterprise IT platforms and their cost models including practical familiarity with networking (LAN/WAN), storage (object/cloud storage), and compute (on-prem data center, IaaS, hybrid cloud) environments. The candidate should understand how these infrastructure domains shape budgets, drive vendor negotiations, and influence project financial plans.
- Familiarity with FinOps practices, the transition from traditional infrastructure to consumption-based and as-a-service pricing models, and emerging trends such as agentic AI architectures
- Practical familiarity with data visualization, financial systems, planning platforms, workflow tools, and/or AI-enabled productivity tools used to improve finance processes and decision support.
- Ability to partner across Finance, Technology, Data, and business teams to define requirements, improve data quality, and deliver scalable digital solutions.
Critical Skills
- Strong communication (written and verbal) and people skills to build relationships and influence multiple stakeholders effectively across the company
- Previous experience leading and managing projects in a complex environment and with the ability to consistently deliver results with large, cross-functional teams
- High level of MS Excel expertise. Should be able to perform detailed financial modeling and proficient with pivot tables, complex formulas, data analysis, lookups etc.
- Demonstrated ability to manage tight deadlines and prioritize workloads with a high degree of accuracy and minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
- Digital-first mindset with demonstrated ability to simplify, automate, and scale recurring finance processes.
- Strong analytical storytelling skills, with the ability to connect financial results, operational drivers, technology consumption, and business outcomes for senior audiences.
- Change leadership skills to drive adoption of new processes, tools, and digital ways of working across finance teams and business partners.
- Curious, self-starter who consistently takes the initiative to address questions and build new processes/structures
