American Express is seeking a Program Manager to support the Cybersecurity Operations organization, responsible for driving organizational alignment, operational execution, and leadership support across a complex and evolving operating model.
The Cybersecurity Operations organization spans multiple functions, including Security Operations, Cyber Threat Intelligence, Incident Response, and Cyber Threat Remediation. The function operates in a highly regulated environment with responsibility for protecting the enterprise against evolving cyber threats while meeting regulatory, audit, and risk management expectations.
This role is accountable for ensuring leadership priorities are effectively translated into coordinated execution across the organization. The Program Manager will drive executive reporting, operating cadence, and cross-functional program delivery, while enabling informed decision-making and consistent execution against business and regulatory commitments.
The role requires a highly organized, detail-oriented operator who can manage competing priorities, coordinate across multiple teams, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Team Description
The Cybersecurity Operations organization is responsible for the detection, analysis, and response to cyber threats across the enterprise, as well as supporting intelligence-driven security operations and regulatory obligations.
The team operates with defined processes, governance, and performance metrics to ensure consistent execution across security operations, while collaborating closely with technology, risk, legal, and audit partners to support enterprise risk management and regulatory readiness.
This role supports leadership operations and execution across these functions, helping to ensure alignment, transparency, and coordination across a distributed organization.
- Support the Vice President and leadership team in managing day-to-day operational priorities, ensuring alignment and follow-through on key initiatives
- Drive and maintain leadership operating cadence, including preparation for meetings, tracking outcomes, and ensuring completion of follow-up actions
- Develop and deliver executive-level reporting and presentations, including status updates, risk summaries, and performance metrics
- Coordinate and track cross-functional initiatives, ensuring alignment, accountability, and timely delivery across multiple teams
- Track and manage key risks, issues, dependencies, and decisions, ensuring appropriate escalation and resolution
- Support execution of the organization’s strategic roadmap, including transformation initiatives and process improvements
- Manage organizational planning activities, including goal tracking, metrics reporting, and performance monitoring
- Drive consistency in governance processes, including reporting standards, documentation, and communication workflows
- Serve as a coordination point for high-priority issues, ensuring leadership visibility and structured follow-up
- Partner with Technology, Risk, Legal, and Audit teams to support regulatory readiness, exam coordination, and documentation alignment
- Develop and deliver internal communications to drive clarity and alignment across the organization
- Build strong working relationships across teams to support collaboration, execution, and effective information flow
- Minimum of 6 –10 years of experience in program management, project management, operations, or related roles
- Demonstrated experience managing complex, cross-functional initiatives in a matrixed environment
- Strong ability to synthesize operational, risk, or technical information into clear, actionable insights
- Experience developing executive presentations, reporting, and stakeholder communications
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and drive execution with strong attention to detail
- Experience operating in a regulated or risk-managed environment
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in program delivery or project management within large enterprise organizations
- Familiarity with cybersecurity domains such as threat intelligence, incident response, or security operations
- Experience supporting regulatory exams or audit engagements
- Experience with organizational planning, reporting, and performance tracking processes
