We are deeply involved in the Portuguese startup ecosystem and were the winners of the Web Summit Pitch Competition 2025.We are now looking for an AI QA Automation Engineer to own quality across our product.Quality engineering is being reinvented by AI, and we want someone genuinely excited to explore AI QA. This role has real space to explore new approaches to testing, such as evaluations (e.g. LLM-as-a-Judge). Prior AI experience isn't required - curiosity and a willingness to learn are.At the same time, you should already bring strong test automation skills (Cypress, Playwright, or similar) and the seniority to own quality end-to-end and to evangelise test-driven development across the team.What This Role InvolvesYou sit with the product team and are responsible for quality across the platformYou work closely with engineering and product, understanding both the technical and customer perspectiveYou identify bugs, inconsistencies, and edge cases early - including failures in AI outputs - before they reach usersDefine what should be tested, how, and at what level (manual, automated, or both)Build and evolve automated tests for high-value and repetitive workflowsBuild automated evaluations for our AI features (e.g. LLM-as-a-Judge)Proactively review product behavior to detect recurring risks and improve overall reliabilityWhat We Are Looking ForWe care more about evidence than years, but this role requires senior, hands-on experience working on real products.Experience4+ years of experience in QA, Quality Engineering, or a similar roleProven track record building and maintaining automated test suites on real productsCore SkillsHands-on experience with tools like Cypress, Playwright, pytest, Postman, or similarComfortable scripting in PythonComfortable debugging issues across frontend, backend, and APIsAbility to identify where something breaks, why it breaks, and how to communicate it clearlyAdditional PlusExperience working in a startup environmentExposure to AI tools in testing or DevOpsExposure to evaluation frameworksCommunicationClear and direct communicatorAble to document issues clearly and make them easy to act onFluent in English and PortugueseLocation requirementThis role requires physical presence in Lisbon.
