The Role

General Motors is reimagining how we design, engineer, and build the products and experiences that define the future of transportation. As a Systems Engineering Manager for Product Lifecycle client tools and application services, you will lead the team that builds and runs the PLM tools engineers rely on every day – from Designcenter and knowledge base tools to Teamcenter Visualization – forming the digital backbone of GM’s product development.

Reporting to the Director of Systems Engineering for GM’s engineering design and tools platforms, you will be the connective tissue between engineering, product, and IT, shaping the PLM client tools roadmap, modernizing how teams collaborate, and enabling faster, higher-quality decisions across the vehicle lifecycle. The solutions your team delivers will directly influence how quickly we can design, validate, and launch new products, and how effectively thousands of engineers’ experience GM’s PLM ecosystem.

What You'll Do

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Systems and Software Engineers supporting Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) mechanical engineering client systems, its technical delivery, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

  • Provide people leadership through goal setting, performance management, talent development, succession planning, and employee engagement.

  • Lead the roadmap, deployment, operations, and support for tools such as Designcenter and Teamcenter Visualization.

  • Serve as a technical and business leader for PLM client solutions, guiding application support, engineering workflows, integration points, and business processes.

  • Partner with platform teams, engineering, manufacturing, design, suppliers, and IT stakeholders to align PLM capabilities with business priorities and enterprise strategy.

  • Oversee solution delivery, deployment readiness, operational support, issue resolution, and service quality for PLM tools and processes.

  • Act as a subject matter expert across core PLM technologies and associated business processes, informing architectural decisions and technical problem-solving.

  • Build strong cross-functional relationships and influence outcomes across a matrixed organization.

  • Establish and improve team operating models, delivery discipline, support processes, and stakeholder communication.

  • Ensure the team remains current on evolving PLM capabilities, release changes, best practices, and emerging technologies.

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 10+ years of experience in the PLM space or related enterprise client tools, with progressively increasing responsibility across solution delivery, support, transformation, strategy, or operations.

  • Demonstrated experience leading technical teams, developing talent, driving performance, and building an inclusive, accountable team culture.

  • Experience translating complex business needs into technical solutions, operating models, and delivery plans.

  • Strong understanding of systems integration, deployment management, operational support, and service delivery in a complex enterprise environment.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, technically challenging environment.

  • Strong communication, organizational, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence strategy, drive alignment, and deliver results across a matrixed organization.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Deep technical knowledge of enterprise PLM platforms and related business processes, including experience with Teamcenter, NX/Designcenter, Active Workspace, Teamcenter Visualization, and/or GPDL/KBE.

  • Strong experience with technical strategy, roadmap planning, and IT portfolio management in the PLM domain.

  • Familiarity with PLM deployment events, release impacts, change management, and end-user support models.

  • Background in transportation product development, engineering systems, or digital engineering environments.

  • Experience influencing alongside peer managers, senior individual contributors, and cross-functional delivery teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to balance strategic leadership with operational execution and day-to-day team support.

  • Experience driving enterprise-scale transformation, organizational change, or multi-team delivery initiatives within the PLM space.

  • Experience representing an organization in leadership forums and influencing decisions across business and IT functions.
