The group leverages a state-of-the-art multi-terabyte financial data warehouse as one of its main assets to service the Firm’s Finance division.In the Technology division, we leverage innovation to build the connections and capabilities that power our Firm, enabling our clients and colleagues to redefine markets and shape the future of our communities. This is a Lead Software Engineer position at Vice President Level, which is part of the job family responsible for developing and maintains software solutions that support business needs. Since 1935, Morgan Stanley is known as a global leader in financial services, always evolving and innovating to better serve our clients and our communities in more than 40 countries around the world.What you’ll do in the role: Lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable, enterprise-grade reporting and analytics solutions as part of a greenfield project, driving the build vs. buy evaluation and multiple POCs.Architect and implement robust software systems using Java, Angular, and other modern technologies, ensuring best practices in SDLC, code quality, and performance.Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, and cross-functional teams to define requirements, evaluate tools, and deliver innovative solutions aligned with business goals.Drive the adoption of GenAI, Copilot, and AI-driven development practices to enhance automation, reporting, and developer productivity, including design, code completion, review, and automated test case generation.Mentor and lead a high-performing team of engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and innovation.Manage stakeholder relationships, communicate project status, and proactively address risks and challenges.Promote agile methodologies, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines for efficient and reliable software delivery.Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends and champion their adoption where relevant.What you’ll bring to the role: 10-15 years of experience in software engineering, with a strong background in full stack development, specializing in Java (Spring Boot, REST APIs, etc.) as the primary skill.Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and modern SDLC practices.Proven experience building and scaling enterprise-level applications, preferably in cloud environments.Proficiency in additional languages and frameworks (Python, SQL, databases, etc.) and ability to quickly learn new tech stacks as needed.Demonstrated experience leveraging GenAI, Copilot, or AI-based tools for software...
