HVAC Technician

Installs, diagnoses, repairs and maintains heating, ventilation to a variety of equipment including refrigeration, air conditioning, electric motors, heating units, heat pumps, hermetic compressors, commercial furnaces, boilers, burners, intake and exhaust fans, economizers, humidifiers, capacity controls, semi-hermetic compressors, split systems, flame safeguard controls, air compressors, air driers, and packaged units throughout the district. Other duties may be assigned.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Diagnose, repair, and install plant mechanical systems in pulp and paper manufacturing industry.

• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment like conveyors and presses

• Read mechanical prints and diagrams (including HVAC systems)

• Experience – 3 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.

• Excellent teamwork, cooperation and problem-solving skills.
• Critical thinking; predictive and preventative maintenance, finding root cause of failure.
• Work positively with maintenance and operations teams to troubleshoot and solve problems.
• Ability to work alone, with a partner, or as a member of a team maintaining safety, quality & productivity.
• Engage in preventative maintenance processes through facility.
• Willingness to cross train and learn new skills in other technical areas to enhance capabilities.
• Able to work with computer system for maintenance processes, stores and work order.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed by the assigned location
• Ability to operate power tools and heavy equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required for this Position: 

Education – High school diploma or GED. Completion of a postsecondary HVAC training program or formal apprenticeship is highly preferred.

Experience –3-5 years of experience

Certification/License - Driver License

Employees must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and meet all customer, site, regulatory, medical, and fitness-for-duty requirements applicable to the position.

Must be able to perform all job duties while maintaining a constant commitment to safety, quality, and productivity expectations.
