Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Jr. Mechanical Designer to join the Power Bus Way Team. This position reports to Mississauga. ON. The Jr. Mechanical Designer will play a vital role in supporting our design team by assisting in the design of cable bus systems and components, while working closely with senior team members. This role involves collaboration across multiple departments such as production and quality assurance.
What Will You Do?
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing conventional and computer-assisted design (CAD) engineering designs, drawings, and specifications.
- Generate models within a 3D workspace.
- Work with 3D scans and point cloud models.
- Prepare product layout and approval drawings.
- Ensure standard design and drawing procedures are followed.
- Prepare component manufacturing drawings for production.
- Participate in the preparation of installation manuals and maintenance documentation for equipment.
- Carry out a limited range of mechanical tests and analyses (FEA) on components and materials.
- Follow projects through manufacturing processes, ensuring proper production and assembly of components.
- Provide manufacturing and assembly input.
- Maintain computer and hard copy files in a logical, organized fashion.
- Provide input to the design of product prototypes and final product designs.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Education & Experience
- 0–1+ years of experience in mechanical engineering and design.
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, a related major, or a combination of relevant education and experience.
- Proficient and knowledgeable with Autodesk Inventor.
- Experience with 3D modeling and producing mechanical drawings.
- Proficient with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication processes.
- Must be highly organized.
- Ability to prioritize workload and meet project deadlines.
