We promote a fun, inclusive, and collaborative culture where innovation and empathy guide our work.Position OverviewWe are seeking a skilled Frontend Engineer to join our Knowledge team in Copenhagen, working alongside backend engineers, ML scientists, and product teams. You will help build and enhance customer-facing knowledge management solutions powered by AI and advanced data technologies. Our frontend stack is built with modern JavaScript and TypeScript, leveraging React for rich, dynamic user experiences.Your work will directly enhance how customers interact with our Help Center and related content services by building robust frontend experiences that integrate AI features and maintain high reliability and responsiveness.What You’ll DoDevelop, maintain, and improve frontend features using React and JavaScript/TypeScript within a complex, service-oriented architecture.Partner with ML scientists and product teams to implement AI-powered capabilities on the frontend.Lead the technical design, architecture, and long-term roadmap for major user-facing features and frontend systems.Actively drive improvements to the team's engineering best practices, development workflows, and tooling (e.g., CI/CD, testing methodologies, component libraries).Own the end-to-end operational stability, reliability, and monitoring of production frontend applications, including complex integrations with backend services at Zendesk scale.Communicate clearly with team members and stakeholders about design choices, implementation plans, and technical challenges.What You’ll Bring5+ years of demonstrated professional experience in frontend engineering, with strong proficiency in React and JavaScript/TypeScript.Demonstrated ability to design, build, and operate complex, distributed frontend systems (e.g., micro-frontends, shared services, high-traffic applications).Expertise in frontend-specific performance testing, capacity planning, and optimization (e.g., minimizing operational costs, reducing load times, and managing client-side resources for large-scale applications).Experience working in agile teams with modern development workflows including code reviews, testing, and CI/CD.Familiarity with backend technologies (Ruby on Rails, Node.js) and REST/GraphQL APIs, enabling effective cross-team collaboration.Experience working with AI-related frontend features or integrations is a strong plus.Good problem-solving skills and customer-centric mindset with a focus on usability and accessibility.Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken.Proven experience and effectiveness in formally mentoring junior and mid-level engineers, leading code reviews, and elevating the technical standards of a team.Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.Experience with event-driven architectures, content management systems, or cloud deployment technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS).Exposure to observability tools to monitor frontend reliability and performance.Previous experience working in AI or LLM feature implementation on the frontend.Our Tech StackFrontend: React, JavaScript, TypeScriptBackend: Ruby on Rails, Node.js, GraphQL, RESTInfrastructure: AWS, Kubernetes, DockerData: MySQL, Redis,...
