Overview
Job Summary:Provides patient access and registration support for Radiology services by ensuring accurate patient information, efficient scheduling, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Responsible for collecting and verifying demographic, insurance, and authorization information while delivering excellent customer service to patients, providers, and healthcare teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Completes patient registration and check-in processes for scheduled and unscheduled Radiology patients, ensuring accuracy of demographics, identification, insurance information, and required documentation.
- Reviews and processes radiology orders, ensuring orders are complete, signed, and entered accurately into EPIC for scheduling and care coordination.
- Verifies patient demographic and financial information and maintains accurate electronic documentation within appropriate systems.
- Reviews diagnosis information and ensures appropriate ICD-10 coding is aligned with the patient’s signs, symptoms, and requested services.
- Follows federal regulations and organizational policies to maintain compliance with HIPAA, medical necessity requirements, and other applicable guidelines.
- Verifies insurance requirements and medical necessity according to payer guidelines to support appropriate reimbursement and regulatory compliance.
- Assists Financial Specialists with obtaining required patient waivers, such as ABNs, when applicable.
- Schedules, cancels, and reschedules Radiology appointments while maintaining patient confidentiality and providing exceptional service.
- Assists with point-of-service collections and supports efforts to meet patient financial responsibilities and improve reimbursement.
- Provides administrative support to Radiology Technologists, clinical teams, hospital departments, and community providers.
- Collaborates with internal teams to ensure a smooth patient experience and efficient Radiology operations.

- Experience with patient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, or healthcare administration preferred.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Continuing education beyond high school preferred.
- Minimum of two years of clerical and/or customer service experience required, with at least one year in a healthcare environment preferred.
- A two-year degree may substitute for one year of clerical experience or healthcare-related experience.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Demonstrates professionalism, courtesy, and patience when interacting with patients, families, providers, and internal teams to support a positive customer experience.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively in person and over the telephone.
- Proficient computer skills, including keyboarding and experience using electronic systems.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10 and CPT codes, insurance terminology, and healthcare processes preferred.
- Experience with EPIC, Biscom, OnBase, or similar healthcare systems preferred.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately collect, verify, and enter information.
- Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and maintaining accuracy under stressful conditions.
- Ability to communicate professionally and obtain information from patients, clinics, physicians, and clinical/technical staff.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively as part of a team.
