Vice President, Partner Solutions Consulting
GMNS (Global Merchant & Network Services) Product leads the strategy, development, delivery, and operations of American Express network and acquirer products that power $1.9T+ in annual customer transactions. We serve our merchants, partners, and issuers across more than 170 markets worldwide, growing revenue by driving strategic, multi-year initiatives that deliver differentiated value to direct merchants, merchant partners, network partners, and ecosystem partners.
Within GMNS, the Product Growth organization is responsible for bringing Product and Network capabilities to market, evolving the product portfolio through partner engagement, and ensuring solutions work effectively with the right partners at the right time.
The Partner Solutions Consulting function sits at the center of the Product Growth organization, working with our most strategic partners to co-create the technical roadmaps required to achieve shared commercial priorities. The team develops deep expertise in partner product strategies, identifies synergies with GMNS capabilities, and translates partner insights into prioritized product investments.
In this role, the Vice President, Partner Solutions Consulting, will deep dive into partners’ product strategies, identify synergies with Amex capabilities, and translate partner needs into our internal roadmaps for prioritized delivery.
This role reports directly to the Vice President, Solutions Consulting & Product Partnerships, and requires extensive collaboration with GMNS Product, Digital Labs, Partner Account Management, and senior partner stakeholders across geographies.
Own partner-specific technical roadmaps that enable the achievement of shared commercial priorities and strategic ambitions.
Ensure partner requirements are translated into structured product requests and compelling business cases, serving as the escalation owner for roadmap conflicts between partner demands and GMNS Product priorities.
Represent the network partner perspective in GMNS Product planning cycles, roadmap reviews, and quarterly reprioritization forums, ensuring customer needs inform product direction.
Align with leaders across Solutions Enablement to align on launch sequencing, standards input, and partner feedback loops, while co-owning the resolution of cross-functional issues requiring joint action.
Build and develop the Partner Solutions Consulting team, establishing the operating model for how the team collaborates within the broader Solutions Consulting function.
Lead strategic product discussions with senior partner stakeholders in partnership with Partner Account Management, serving as the senior escalation point for strategic partner requests.
Extensive leadership experience, with 10+ years in partner-facing, strategic, or product-adjacent roles within payments, platform, or network businesses.
Demonstrated track record of driving innovation, challenging the status quo, and leading organizations through change to deliver new and enhanced capabilities.
Proven ability to lead a partner-facing portfolio while maintaining a coherent operating model across product roadmaps, commercial priorities, and partner needs.
Strong commercial and product judgment, with the ability to evaluate partner requests against product investment priorities and make well-reasoned trade-off recommendations.
Deep knowledge of the network partner landscape and how it intersects with American Express network capabilities.
Strong understanding of the American Express technology stack, network capabilities, and product suite, with the ability to influence product direction.
Demonstrated success building and evolving structured operating cadences, including launch readiness forums, portfolio reviews, and quarterly reprioritization processes.
Executive-level stakeholder management experience with senior partner and internal executive audiences, including leading strategic product discussions alongside commercial partners.
Experience operating in a matrixed, global organization, with the ability to influence without direct authority across Product, Business Development, Digital, and Enablement teams.
Ability to travel for partner- and stakeholder-facing meetings, estimated at approximately 20%, depending on home office location.
