This is a technically focused leadership role that combines people leadership, technical strategy, and hands-on involvement in improving engineering practices and product delivery. The VP of Engineering will help define technical direction, strengthen engineering processes, develop high-performing teams, and ensure the successful delivery of reliable, scalable B2B products. The ideal candidate is a strong engineering leader who can balance long-term technical vision with day-to-day execution, working closely with Engineering, Product, and other cross-functional teams to drive impact. Responsibilities Define engineering strategy and technical direction in partnership with product and business leadership. Lead and develop engineering teams, creating a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Guide architecture decisions across applications, cloud infrastructure, and data systems. Lead platform modernization initiatives and support the evolution of scalable, maintainable systems. Improve engineering productivity, quality, security, and reliability through effective processes and best practices. Strengthen development workflows, including CI/CD, automated testing, code quality practices, observability, and operational excellence. Drive adoption of modern engineering practices and emerging technologies, including AI-assisted development approaches where appropriate. Establish effective production support practices, including incident management, monitoring, and continuous improvement. Partner closely with Product, Design, and business stakeholders to align technical execution with company goals. Balance urgent delivery needs with long-term scalability and technical sustainability. Mentor engineers and technical leaders, supporting career growth and building future engineering leadership. Requirements 10+ years of software engineering experience with significant engineering leadership experience. Previous experience as a VP of Engineering, Director of Engineering, Engineering Manager, Senior Engineering Manager, or similar technical leadership role. Proven experience building, leading, and scaling high-performing engineering teams. Strong enterprise B2B product development and application delivery experience. Strong technical background in either C#/.NET or Java. Experience designing and evolving cloud-based applications and platforms, with strong experience in Microsoft Azure. Experience in improving engineering practices across development, testing, deployment, and operational processes. Strong understanding of application architecture, scalability, reliability, and software development lifecycle best practices. Experience working with databases, data architecture, and performance optimization at scale. Experience delivering software products in fast-paced environments with competing priorities. Strong communication skills with the ability to influence technical and business stakeholders. Nice to Have Experience working with sensitive or confidential data in fintech, insurance, or other regulated industries. Experience in a fast-growing software company or environment undergoing significant technical transformation.
