The Platform team builds the reusable infrastructure, patterns, and tooling that every Helix service depends on.The Role:As a Senior Software Engineer on the Helix Platform team, you will build and operate the foundational services, tooling, and patterns used across the Helix ecosystem. You’ll work heavily in Go, build gRPC + REST APIs, design multi-tenant data models in PostgreSQL (JSONB included), and ship production workloads on Kubernetes (EKS) using Helm + GitHub Actions. This role is ideal for someone who loves both shipping features and strengthening the platform underneath them, performance, reliability, security, operability, and clean developer experience. This is a remote role based in Los Angeles or New York City. What You’ll Do:Build and operate core Helix services and shared platform capabilities (tenant foundations, auth patterns, metadata and records patterns, eventing patterns, shared libraries)Design and implement APIs using gRPC protobuf and RESTWork in PostgreSQL every day, including schema design, migrations, JSONB modeling, and performance tuningDeploy and run services on AWS EKS, including ALB ingress, health checks, scaling, and production debuggingPublish and consume events via Kafka and design event contracts that hold up over timeImprove developer velocity by contributing to Helm templates, CI CD workflows, service scaffolding, and configuration standards (including secrets and environment management)Raise the bar on testing, code quality, observability, and operational hygieneMentor other engineers and lead technical conversations that unblock teamsWhat Success looks like:In the first 3 to 6 months you should be able to:Ship meaningful platform improvements that reduce friction for multiple Helix service teamsOwn a capability end to end (design through rollout) that becomes a reusable pattern across servicesFind and fix at least one production reliability or performance issue (database, ingress, scaling, eventing, etc)Improve standards in a way that sticks (tests, CI checks, runbooks, dashboards)What You Will Bring:Strong backend engineering experience and production ownershipExperience building microservices and running them in productionGo experience, or deep systems language experience and you can ramp to Go quicklyAPI design experience, gRPC and protobuf experience is a strong plusStrong PostgreSQL fundamentals and real experience with migrations and performance tuningKubernetes experience in production, EKS is a plusA practical quality mindset, you write tests and you care about operabilityNice to have:Multi tenant SaaS experience and an opinion on tenant isolation and authorization boundariesKafka experience (consumer groups, idempotency, event schemas)Envoy or gRPC Web experienceHelm, GitHub Actions, Terraform, AWS networking and ingress patternsObservability experience (structured logs, metrics, tracing, OpenTelemetry)What We Have...
