CYBERSECURITY SYSTEM AND REQUIREMENTS ENGINEER


The Cybersecurity System and Requirements Engineer is responsible for overseeing

cybersecurity between the software/hardware and systems teams on cybersecurity

issues. The cybersecurity system and requirements engineer works with the product

and core teams in translating the product requirements with cybersecurity impacts into

the software/hardware requirements and architecture.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and support cybersecurity plans, strategies, and documentation for automotive embedded systems.
  • Support the Product Systems Cybersecurity team in the execution of cybersecurity activities throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Coordinate cybersecurity topics and risk mitigation efforts across product development, manufacturing, testing, and software engineering teams.
  • Perform cybersecurity assessments, identify vulnerabilities, and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Provide cybersecurity consulting and guidance for the analysis, remediation, and patching of open-source and third-party software components.
  • Drive secure software development practices, including secure coding, unit testing, static and dynamic code analysis, fuzz testing, and compliance with applicable cybersecurity standards and regulations.
  • Conduct threat modeling, design reviews, and security evaluations to assess the impact of new technologies and system architectures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement cyber-resilient solutions for automotive platforms.
  • Support technical design reviews, customer discussions, and cybersecurity-related decision-making activities.
  • Communicate cybersecurity risks, emerging threats, and technical recommendations to engineering teams and leadership.
  • Participate in code reviews and promote best practices for software quality, security, and version control.

Your background:
 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in the automotive, consumer electronics, embedded systems, or cybersecurity domains.
  • Experience with low-level software development using C, Assembly, or similar programming languages.
  • Strong understanding of embedded systems development, including networking, cryptography, secure communications, and resource management.
  • Experience designing solutions that comply with automotive cybersecurity standards and regulations, including ISO 21434, UNECE R155/R156, and Automotive SPICE.
  • Knowledge of hardware security technologies such as Hardware Security Modules (HSM), secure hardware extensions, and trusted execution environments.
  • Experience with automotive communication protocols including CAN, CAN-FD, Automotive Ethernet, and related vehicle networking technologies.
  • Familiarity with automotive software architectures such as AUTOSAR, DDS, and ROS2/SROS2.
  • Experience with threat modeling, vulnerability analysis, cybersecurity risk assessment, and secure development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of FPGA development environments, embedded hardware architectures, device drivers, BSPs, and hardware/software interface design is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Bluetooth, NFC, Wi-Fi, PCB design considerations, hardware schematics, and hardware description languages such as Verilog or VHDL is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of cyber risk, cyber intelligence, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organization, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working across cross-functional teams and effectively communicating technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Professional cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, GDSA, or similar are a plus.
  • Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Passion for cybersecurity demonstrated through activities such as bug bounty programs, capture-the-flag competitions, security research, or related initiatives.
