Job Description:

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
As a RF Engineer Principal, creates communications and electronics operating instruction documents at the Joint Task Force level, using spectrum management software such as spectrum XXI, government master file and international telecommunications programs to manage and de-conflict global frequency assignments from high frequency to extremely high frequency bands. Manage ultra-high frequency tactical satellite frequency allocations in concert with Joint Staff, U.S. Strategic Command, United States Cyber Command and Geographic Combatant Commands. Perform duties as the global broadcast system theater injection manager, creating transmission programs, missions and configuration of tactical global broadcast system receive systems and interfacing with Geographic Combatant Commands to deliver global data and video services.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Education: Bachelor degree

  • Experience: 8+ years of related experience

Role requirements:

  • Provides SATCOM and Spectrum technical assistance to the Joint Activity Spectrum Branch and will be responsible for performing spectrum management support for the procurement, assignment, and protection of radio frequencies for legacy and emerging spectrum-dependent systems.

  • Keeps Spectrum Branch Chief informed as to the status of priority and high visibility actions.

  • Generates, processes, and tracks electronic attack requests and required spectrum analysis to national agencies.

  • Generate, submit, and track frequency assignment requests through Spectrum XXI and other spectrum management databases.

  • Review spectrum certifications to ensure adequacy and accuracy to support operational needs.

  • Coordinate frequency assignment requests with installation spectrum managers, DoD operating forces, geographic component commanders, federal, non-federal, and other spectrum-dependent users of the US and foreign countries.

  • Generate, submit, validate, and track Satellite Access Requests (SAR)/Gateway Access Requests (GAR) through Joint Integrated Satellite Communications Tool (JIST) and other Joint SATCOM Planning Branch (JSPB) management databases.

  • Maintains technical knowledge of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) Manual of Procedures for Federal Radio Frequency Management.

  • Utilizes Stepstone online resource for data capture of information for spectrum dependent equipment supporting the spectrum certification and spectrum supportability processes.  Utilizes this mechanism to complete "Application for Equipment Frequency Allocation" (DD-1494).

  • Report all EMI incidents using the Joint Spectrum Interference Response Online database.

  • Manage, maintain, update, and distribute the Joint Communication-Electronics Operating Instructions (JCEOI).

  • Update and distribute Joint Restricted Frequency List (JFRL).

  • Perform minor janitorial duties to include cleaning of restrooms, food preparation area, general cleaning, sweeping, and mopping.

The likely salary range for this position is $101,546 - $115,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
