This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.The Mechanical Tech 1 is responsible for the assembly, integration, and test of a variety of Propulsion Subsystems supported by the Dulles Propulsion Work Center of Excellence. You will be working as part of a team on highly complex systems and equipment that are mission critical for the platforms that they operate onIn this job, you will:Performs a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations involving mechanical assemblies at a subassembly and system level. Responsible for adhering to strict requirements governing tool use and facility house keeping Read and interpret drawings, schematics, work instructions, and process documentation.   Works from diagrams and drawings, makes initial layouts, and uses hand and/or power tools and jigs. Use a wide range of precision hand tools, torque tools, measuring equipment and mechanical test equipment. Responsible for adhering to strict requirements governing tool use, house & record keeping Ability and willingness to self-inspect work in support of adherence to defined workmanship standards. Work in a precision clean work environment (cleanroom) requiring specific gowning protocol combined with FOD control compliance. Basic Qualifications:High School diploma or equivalent and 0 years additional education and/or related experience.   Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearanceHands on experience with various tooling and equipment. PC literacy using common software and annotated model-based designs Ability to execute and document work using detailed instructions and reading/interpreting drawings.  Preferred Qualifications:  Minimum of 2 years of aerospace integration experience or trade school experience aligned with welding (i.e., fabricating and assembly of flight pneumatic systems, associated mechanical assemblies and related thermal installations). Experience using high fidelity drawings and work instructions, model-based design use preferred. Experience with Aerospace tube and pipe fitting operations, and the associated tooling. Experience performing precision tube forming tube and tube end processing. Aerospace fusion welding experience is preferred, specifically tailored to gas tungsten orbital tube welding operations. Having ability to use and apply common computer design software in support of creating additive manufactured tooling and fixturing is an added preference. Curious about all the exciting developments with the Northrop Grumman Space Sector?
