MAIN JOB PURPOSE

The Basic Operator is responsible for executing general production line operations and cleaning activities in accordance with planned operational requirements. The role ensures the safe delivery of high-quality packed products while maintaining compliance with safety, quality, and hygiene standards.

As a key member of the operations team, the Basic Operator plays an active role in maintaining line safety and identifying process or equipment issues, promptly escalating them to team leaders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Operational Activities

  • Start-Up and Shutdown
    • Perform pre-start-up checks to ensure equipment and work areas are clean, safe, and compliant with SOPs.
    • Assist in safe and systematic shutdown of equipment and work areas as per SOP requirements.
  • Cleaning and Hygiene
    • Conduct inspection and cleaning activities in line with SOPs.
    • Identify and report potential contamination risks, including those in hard-to-reach areas.
  • Material Handling
    • Ensure continuous supply of appropriate packaging materials from storage areas to designated workstations.
    • Maintain organization in line with 5S standards.
  • Quality Control
    • Monitor product and packaging quality against defined standards.
    • Identify and report defects, process deviations, or abnormalities promptly.
    • Take immediate corrective or emergency actions to minimize impact.
  • Administration
    • Complete accurate shift handovers.
    • Record production data (e.g., cases packed, rejects) and significant events during the shift.

2. Safety, Quality, and Compliance

  • Safety
    • Demonstrate full understanding of safety procedures and legal responsibilities.
    • Actively contribute to maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Quality and Food Safety
    • Monitor processes to ensure compliance with quality and food safety standards.
    • Identify and report risks related to product, packaging, machinery, or process deviations.
    • Take immediate action to control and prevent issues.
  • Workplace Hazards
    • Maintain awareness of workplace hazards.
    • Follow appropriate safety and environmental procedures related to people, processes, materials, and equipment.

3. Environmental Responsibility

  • Minimize waste and support cost reduction initiatives.
  • Handle waste and hazardous materials correctly.
  • Contribute to environmentally sustainable and eco-efficient operations.

4. Continuous Improvement

  • Use performance indicators to identify production losses and improvement opportunities.
  • Accurately describe and monitor process or line issues.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives.

    • Clearly communicate safety concerns and operational observations.

6. Physical Requirements

  • Ability to move quickly between workstations and navigate stairs while handling materials.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for equipment operation.
  • Adequate sensory ability (e.g., sight and smell) to perform monitoring and quality checks effectively.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Essential

  • Applicant must be a committed team worker with a strong sense of responsibility and good attention to detail Effective communication skills and an agile mind are essential.

Preferred/Desirable

  • Experience of manufacturing in a Fast-Moving Consumer Goods Company is desirable but not essential.

  • IT Skills – competent in the use of Microsoft Office; Excel and Word programmes is preferred

  • Amenable to work in General Trias, Cavite

  • Amenable to work in a Fixed-Term Contract Employment (12 months)
