You will contribute to mission-critical software that powers autonomous flight, resilient navigation, payload integration, and edge computing capabilities for defense and security customers worldwide.Together with our world-class team, you will push the boundaries of autonomous aviation, working closely with System Architecture, Flight Controls, AI, Hardware Development, Integration & Test, and Flight Operations to continuously improve Reliant's performance, reliability, and mission capabilities.What is your Day to Day Mission:Design, implement, maintain, and optimize the Quantum-Systems embedded firmware stack for the Reliant platformDevelop safety-critical flight software for autonomous long-range VTOL operationsDesign, implement, and validate new flight control, navigation, and mission management functionalitiesExport flight control and navigation algorithms from MATLAB/Simulink and integrate them into the embedded autopilot frameworkImplement, optimize, and maintain BSPs, peripheral drivers, communication interfaces, and sensor driversDevelop embedded software for redundant and safety-critical avionics architecturesIntegrate navigation sensors including IMUs, GNSS, magnetometers, air-data sensors, radar altimeters, and vision-based navigation systemsSupport autonomous navigation capabilities in GNSS-denied environments through sensor fusion technologiesDevelop and optimize communication interfaces for long-range command & control systems, payload communication, and vehicle subsystemsSupport the integration of modular payloads including EO/IR sensors, SIGINT, EW, SAR, CRPA, and future mission systemsContribute to robust firmware architectures enabling reliable operation in contested and degraded environmentsBuild, document, maintain, and continuously improve autopilot firmwarePrepare flight test releases, create flight test tickets, analyze flight logs, and support flight test campaignsDebug and trace embedded software to improve robustness, code coverage, and system reliabilityMaintain bootloaders, secure firmware update mechanisms, and firmware deployment processesImprove firmware build systems, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing infrastructure (GitLab CI)Support production, manufacturing, and hardware validation toolsCollaborate closely with AI and Edge Computing teams to integrate onboard processing capabilities into embedded flight systemsContribute to software architecture, coding standards, and continuous improvement of development processesWhat you bring to the team:Several years of experience developing embedded software for microcontroller-based systemsExcellent programming skills in C, with modern embedded software design principlesExperience with C++ is considered a plusStrong understanding of ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers and embedded hardware architecturesExcellent knowledge of communication protocols including UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet, and serial communication interfacesExperience working with RTOS-based embedded systems (FreeRTOS, Zephyr, uC/OS or similar)Experience with low-level driver development, BSP implementation, and hardware abstraction layersGood understanding of embedded bootloaders, firmware updates, and secure software deploymentExperience with debugging embedded systems using JTAG/SWD, oscilloscopes,...
