Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Line Manager, Clinical Operations to lead and develop a team of clinical research professionals supporting the successful delivery of clinical studies. This role is responsible for ensuring appropriate resource allocation, talent development, operational excellence, and high-quality study execution while serving as a key client-facing partner.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in clinical research, clinical monitoring, project leadership, stakeholder management, and customer relationship management within a CRO, pharmaceutical, or healthcare environment.

Essential Functions

People Leadership & Talent Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of clinical research professionals in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.
  • Drive employee engagement, performance management, career development, and succession planning initiatives.
  • Conduct performance reviews, provide ongoing feedback, and implement development plans.
  • Participate in recruitment activities, including candidate assessment, interviewing, hiring decisions, onboarding, and training.

Resource Management & Operational Delivery

  • Ensure optimal allocation of resources across clinical studies based on business needs, project requirements, and employee competencies.
  • Monitor team capacity, workload distribution, and utilization metrics to support study delivery and client expectations.
  • Identify resource gaps and proactively develop staffing solutions to meet current and future business demands.
  • Ensure team members have the appropriate tools, systems access, training, and support to execute their responsibilities effectively.

Clinical Operations & Quality Oversight

  • Oversee the quality and performance of clinical monitoring and study management activities conducted by assigned staff.
  • Provide guidance on clinical trial execution, monitoring processes, and regulatory compliance.
  • Identify quality risks, performance issues, and operational challenges, implementing corrective and preventive action plans as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with ICH-GCP guidelines, local regulations, SOPs, and client requirements.

Client Relationship Management

  • Serve as a trusted partner and key point of contact for clients, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring exceptional customer service.
  • Participate in client meetings, governance discussions, resource planning reviews, and operational performance reviews.
  • Support demand management activities by anticipating client needs and aligning resources to meet project requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and clients to address operational challenges and drive successful study outcomes.

Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to departmental and organizational initiatives focused on process improvement, operational efficiency, and quality enhancement.
  • Support implementation of best practices across Clinical Operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree completed in a Health Sciences discipline.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in Clinical Research within a CRO, pharmaceutical company, biotechnology company, or related healthcare environment.
  • Strong experience in Clinical Monitoring (CRA role or equivalent) and oversight of clinical trial execution.
  • Availability to travel.
  • Fluent English (spoken and written) is required. Ability to lead business discussions, client meetings, and presentations in English.
  • Proven experience leading clinical research projects and managing operational study delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with sponsors, clients, and external stakeholders.
  • Experience managing client demands, resource planning, and customer expectations.
  • Previous people management experience is highly preferred.
