Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Nurse Tech, you will help nursing staff deliver individual patient care so they can maintain standards of nursing practice and contribute to a compassionate, healing environment for patients, families, and visitors.Every day you will provide direct patient care, assist with daily living activities, and ensure patient stability. You will be expected to adhere to St. Alexius Medical Center's mission and values, maintain quality of care according to policies, give personal hygiene assistance, assist with feeding, ambulating, and positioning, monitor vital signs and report changes, respond to call lights, maintain a safe environment, and document actions. To be successful in this role, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent, be listed on a Nurse Assistant Registry (or obtain placement immediately after orientation), possess good communication and interpersonal skills, be able to organize assignments and work under pressure, and obtain Basic Life Support Certification within the orientation period.

  • Provides comprehensive patient personal care and comfort, including hygiene, mobility assistance (e.g., ambulation, transfers), and addressing basic needs like feeding, skin care, and elimination
  • Prepares patients, equipment, and supplies efficiently for various medical procedures and examinations
  • Performs, monitors, documents, and reports clinical activities within assigned tasks, promptly notifying the RN of any changes in patient condition
  • Assists nursing staff with patient admission, discharge, and transfer processes, including managing belongings, providing comfort items, orienting patients/families, and transport
  • Maintains a neat work environment, manages supplies and equipment (ordering, stocking, reporting issues, initiating repairs), and contributes patient data to the interdisciplinary plan of care
  • Actively participates in quality improvement initiatives, personal growth opportunities, and ongoing education/orientation to the RN role, while consistently adhering to scope of practice

Job Requirements

Required

  • High school graduate or equivalent work experience including ability to read, write, and comprehend medical terminology
  • Current enrollment and in good standing in a full time Nursing Program such as an accredited Baccalaureate Nursing Program or RN Associate Degree program or LPN to RN nursing program.
  • Must be listed on a Nurse Assistant Registry operated by the North Dakota Board of Nursing, State Department and consolidated Laboratories by the North Dakota Board of Nursing, If not on a registry, then must obtain placement on one immediately following orientation and training by St. Alexius Medical Center as stated in the policy “Eligibility for Employment as Nurse Assistant
  • BLS or BLS instructor certification required upon hire. Refer to policy “Licensed, Certified, and Registered Employees” for acceptable life support cards  

Preferred

  • Able to organize assignments and work under pressure. Basic Life Support Certification within the orientation period and meets re-certification as required
