Elastic, the Search AI Company, enables everyone to find the answers they need in real time, using all their data, at scale — unleashing the potential of businesses and people. The Elastic Search AI Platform, used by more than 50% of the Fortune 500, brings together the precision of search and the intelligence of AI to enable everyone to accelerate the results that matter. By taking advantage of all structured and unstructured data — securing and protecting private information more effectively — Elastic’s complete, cloud-based solutions for search, security, and observability help organizations deliver on the promise of AI.
What is The Role
The Elastic IT team is moving beyond simple chat to the next frontier: Agentic Workflows. We are looking for an innovative Agentic AI Engineer to join our team to build autonomous, enterprise-grounded agents that don't just answer questions—they complete complex business tasks to accelerate productivity across the entire organization.
Our ideal candidate is a talented agentic AI developer who has the passion to dive in, learn, and become a verified Elastic Stack expert. In this role, you will leverage the full power of the Elastic Stack (including but not limited to ESRE, Agent Builder and Workflows) to provide the "brain" and "memory" for our agentic ecosystem. Driven by a service-oriented mindset, you will also act as a trusted enabler, helping our internal business partners get started with the stack so they can solve their own unique data problems. By building directly on our own platform, you will empower our global workforce with cutting-edge tools while showcasing the boundary-pushing capabilities of Elastic's products.
Are you ready to build the agents that supercharge enterprise productivity and prove what’s possible with Elastic? Join us to enable agentic workflows that turn collective knowledge into instant action, empowering everyone at Elastic to achieve more.
What You Will Be Doing
- Agentic Strategy & Design: Design and implement sophisticated agentic workflows that use reasoning and tools to execute end-to-end business processes.
- Enterprise Grounding: Utilize Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) and the Elasticsearch Relevance Engine (ESRE) to ensure agents are deeply grounded in enterprise knowledge for high-accuracy task completion.
- AI Model & Tool Integration: Develop and fine-tune LLMs and integrate them with internal APIs and third-party SaaS tools to enable autonomous action.
- Scalable Infrastructure & IaC: Provision and manage robust cloud-based environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) using Terraform to support the high-concurrency demands of enterprise agents.
- DevOps & Lifecycle Management: Establish modern DevOps practices (CI/CD pipelines) to oversee the automated deployment, testing, and performance optimization of agents, keeping our agentic pipelines reliable and secure.
- Security & Networking: Apply strict security and network fundamentals (e.g., VPC configurations, secure API gateways, encryption, and IAM controls) to protect sensitive data and ensure strict compliance.
- AI Observability: Implement comprehensive observability and tracing systems to monitor agent behavior, track execution latency, manage token spend, and proactively detect model drift or failure.
- Technical Leadership: Act as a subject matter expert on the Elastic Stack, making technical recommendations that push the boundaries of AI-driven productivity.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of AI workflows, cloud infrastructure, and deployment processes.
What You Bring
- Proven success in delivering independent GenAI projects, specifically those involving autonomous task completion or complex workflow automation.
- An Appetite to Master Elastic: A strong desire to learn and become an expert in Elasticsearch Relevance Engine (ESRE), advanced RAG patterns, and the broader Elastic ecosystem (we will help you get there!).
- Agentic Frameworks: Familiarity with LangGraph, LangChain, and LangSmith for building and debugging multi-agent systems.
- DevOps & Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Hands-on experience with DevOps practices and infrastructure automation, leveraging Terraform as well as containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Security & Network Fundamentals: Strong knowledge of secure cloud architectures, private networking, firewalls, VPC peering, and secure identity management (OAuth, SAML, IAM).
- Observability & Monitoring: Experience setting up observability frameworks (logging, distributed tracing, and metrics) to monitor complex, non-deterministic multi-agent workflows and application health.
- Understanding of the Enterprise Agentic/Workflow Platform Landscape: Familiarity with leading agentic AI and workflow automation platforms (such as Microsoft Copilot Studio, Salesforce Agentforce, ServiceNow AI Agents)
- Market Trend Integration: Proven ability to apply emerging market trends—such as Multi-Agent Orchestration and Model Context Protocol (MCP)—to build high-impact, cost-optimized solutions that scale across the enterprise.
- Programming: Experience with Python or TypeScript for backend logic and agent orchestration.
- Model Expertise: Hands-on experience with LLM providers.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field.
- Strong communication and problem solving skills with the ability to translate business requirements into technical agent architectures.
- Ability to work and thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- A commitment to Ethical AI and responsible development practices.
